After 25 years of teaching at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I took early retirement and moved to Oregon, where I continue to pursue my research and writing. This site provides information about my previous publications in the areas of chick culture, literature, fashion, and motorcycle studies, and my more recent work in film and visual studies. My book The Cinema of Sofia Coppola: Fashion, Culture, Celebrity was published by Bloomsbury in February 2021. I edited The Bloomsbury Handbook to Sofia Coppola, which was published in early 2023, and wrote a BFI Film Classics volume on Lost in Translation, which came out in March 2023, just in time to celebrate the film’s twentieth anniversary.
